General Conference!

I'm STOKED for conference! I think I have finally grown up enough to stay awake all 8 hours ;)

i am so lucky

that i met 3 of my best friends freshman year.

being randomly roomed with Laur was such a blessing.

thanks to my Heavenly Father!

BYU Ballroom Dance Company Presents:

The BYU Ballroom Dance Company Concert is

Friday April 9 @ 7:30 pm and Saturday April 10 @ 2:00 and 7:30 pm.

They are touring and competing in Blackpool, England this year so it will be a PHENOMENAL show! I will be performing one number besides the finale.

Tickets are $12 (or $25 for floor seating).

It will be in the Marriott Center.

I get credit for how many tickets I sell so talk to me about tickets! You can buy them at the Marriott Center ticket office. But get them from me! I get first dibs when they go on sale tomorrow morning. Good seats = contact me! :)

i'm sleeping 9+ hours a night so i can get rid of this one. it's terrible.

i think the last time i got this much sleep was in elementary school.

but today is so

it's BACK!

can't wait to watch the ballroom champs this weekend at the BYU DANCESPORT NATIONALS!! Last year, I watched with Nat, this year I'm still looking for a buddy! The best times to go are Friday night (Battle of the Champions) and Saturday night (Amateur Latin Finals). CAN'T WAIT!! Just picked up my dress... same one as last semester. Still deciding if I'll get a spray tan or not..

children's books

one of the best things about being an elem ed major is that i get to be a kid again.

it's like reliving my past only better because i don't have to learn everything again.

i'm in a children's literature class right now and was reading a book called "rules" for the class when a girl asked:

"so... why are you reading a kid book?"

me: "oh i'm an el ed major so i have to take a class called children's literature and we have to read several children's books."

her: "really? i wonder why..."

me: "well the class is called children's literature so..."

her: "ya.. i just don't get why they would have you read those."

hmmm... wonder why... ;)

just had to laugh at that one.

i do recommend reading "Miss Spitfire" by Sarah Miller. It's Anne Sullivan's point of view while working with Helen Keller. Really interesting. Quick read. Absolutely loved it! It definitely opened my mind.

i also recommend "Rules" by Cynthia Lord so far (i'm only 60 pages into it). It's about a girl who deals with an autistic brother. I just love reading about people with disabilities. So interesting to me! maybe i should look into that for a major... hmm.. ;)

today my body feels solid, sore, worked, and healthy

i just feel accomplished after.

PRAY 4 TORI

will forever be something that frequently runs through my head.

sweet Tori passed November 7, 2009 at the young age of 19

but we really lost her when she was just shy of 15

it was an unforgettable experience to watch her

through this journey the past 4 years.

she changed my life.

and many others'.

she was a hugger

she asked questions

she was interested

she was sincere

she was deep

she was thoughtful

she was affectionate

she was smart

she was caring

she was sympathetic

she was happy

she was a dancer

she was my dear friend.

finding joy in the journey

if i had to pick one constant trial in my life that's the most difficult for me it would be

change

i hate it.

i hate everything about it.

i would go back to high school,

i would go back to jr. high

i would go back to elementary school

i would go back to the dance club

it's one of those things that i need to be better about dealing with.

and because one of my goals lately is to watch a conference talk every day, i found this gem today and remembered loving it when i heard it. however, it was given a year ago (when i was a freshman in college and really needed to hear it) and i don't think i took it to heart. i'll try harder now. i think everyone can use this talk. change is constant and we all must get used to it.

sadly.

but surely.

now let's just find joy in this journey

stay together for the kids?

so i'm writing a research paper for my parenting and child guidance class on whether or not parents should "stay together for the kids." what are your thoughts? do you think it's better for parents to divorce or stick it out for the sake of their children? any experiences? (i have to have 2 personal experiences;)
